Parasite Management

Ticks, fleas, mites, and internal worms are among the most common health problems we treat, and most are preventable with a regular schedule. Cats and dogs should be dewormed every 3 months and treated for fleas/ticks monthly during high-risk seasons, with a vet check if you notice scratching, hair loss, or visible parasites. Livestock (goats, sheep, and cows) benefit from routine deworming every 3-4 months and dipping or spraying for ticks, especially during the rainy season when tick-borne diseases like East Coast Fever spike. Horses should be dewormed on a rotational schedule (every 2-3 months) and checked regularly for mites and lice, particularly around the mane, tail, and legs. Bring in a sample or photo if you are unsure what you are dealing with - correct identification changes the treatment.
