Diet & Nutrition
A balanced diet is the foundation of good health for every animal we see. For cats and dogs, feed a complete commercial diet appropriate to their age and size, split into two or three meals a day, with fresh water always available - avoid feeding table scraps, onions, chocolate, or grapes. Goats, sheep, and cows do best on good-quality pasture or hay supplemented with clean water and mineral licks, with concentrate feed added during pregnancy, lactation, or heavy work. Horses need consistent access to forage (pasture or hay) as the bulk of their diet, with grain only added for animals in hard work, and any diet changes introduced gradually to avoid colic.
